Description du poste / stage

The Chief Technology Officer of Airbus is currently looking for a Vice-President Telecommunications Technology to be based in Toulouse, France. This position could also be based in Munich, Germany.

You will act as the Connectivity Technology Thrust Leader (CTTL) of Airbus CTO.
The objective of the Connectivity Technology Thrust is to provide highly reliable, cost effective solutions for inter-aircraft, intra-aircraft (data buses, IoT), satellite-aircraft as well as ground-aircraft communication, including associated aspects such as data security, and regulation. This technology cluster covers systems of systems down to own developments, where in-house core technology building is needed.

We aim to disrupt the status quo in aviation communications by developing multi-modal wireless connectivity for aircraft. By developing mesh networking between aircraft, providing high-speed satellite and terrestrial connections, and inventing novel antenna concepts, we will enable new business models, improve aircraft operations, and enhance passenger flight experience.

As owner of the Connectivity Cluster you are responsible to:

  • Provide strategic guidance for the entire cluster;
  • Manage the roadmap owners across the cluster;
  • Drive innovative solutions in an accelerated way;
  • Plan and budget work across the Airbus divisions and partners;
  • Act as the executive interface for the cluster towards the divisions of Airbus.

Other responsibilities of the CTTL are the management of spectrum requirement needs with regard to Airbus product scopes, representation of Airbus in regulatory bodies; and development of strategic partnerships.

  • Recognized Expert in development of solutions in Telecommunications.
  • Strong Leadership capability to manage leading edge Technical teams, Startups and Partners demonstrated by previous experience in areas such as Research, Development, Prototyping, Sourcing and Manufacturing.
  • An understanding of economic and Regulatory aspects is mandatory, and experience in Regulatory Bodies is considered a plus.
  • The candidate must be able to work with a transnational team, and be a skilled negotiator.
  • Interest in Aeronautics and Space is considered a plus.
