In the frame of strong development of On-board Information Systems, a position is opened at Airbus Commercial Aircraft Design Office for a PhD thesis in the field of Data-Mining technics for the analysis of Aircraft logs from On-board Information System.
This position is an opportunity to be part of the department in charge of the end-to-end architecture of Aircraft information systems delivering extensible and secured infrastructures to e-enable airlines operations (Data Security, Flights Operations, Maintenance Operations, Aircraft-Ground Communication and Cabin Operations).
The main goal of this PhD thesis is investigation, definition and implementation of Data-Mining algorithms for analysis of logs from On-board Information System. These logs are produced by both the platform and the hosted applications which compose the On-board Information System. They contain useful information about system usage and health-monitoring.
This study is in the frame of company digitalization trend and exploitation of Aircraft data coming from various systems to boost maturity and speed up supportability. Preliminary studies have shown that an algorithm of frequent item set mining in large databases was producing relevant correlations between events contained in system logs.
Your main mission will focus on preprocessing and analysis of data. For both steps, the task will consist on defining and developing (including implementation) efficient algorithms for extraction of relevant information.
For that purpose, you will study various Data-Mining algorithms and learning methods to produce information which is relevant for functional specialists working on the On-board Information System and its hosted applications. Moreover, it will also be required to explore application domains for the developed algorithms considering the information produced by these algorithms.
