The team you’ll be part of

Our Business Group is a leader in wireless mobility networks and associated services. With more than 3.500 patent families essential for 5G we have a strong 5G portfolio and are a front runner in open and virtualized radio access networks (O-RAN and vRAN).  

As a Software Development Engineer, you will join the baseband platform software research and development team. The team is responsible for developing a low-level layer for new products and features on the Baseband platform provided by Nokia for all wireless technologies including 5G, Advanced 5G and 6G to be delivered. to customers around the world.

What you will learn and contribute to

Within MN BB&SoC BaseBand Platform organization, the offered position is about contributing to the software Maintenance & development of low level layers of the 4G/5G products and features. The candidate will also ensure the maintenance of the features she/he has developed.

Your skills and experience

Nokia Baseband product software is composed of four main software components:

  • LFS ( Linux from scratch) : Bootloader, Operating system, drivers, network layer.
  • MCU HWAPI : Abstraction layer between LFS and application ( Operation & maintenance)
  • CCS : Communication and control system
  • UP HWAPI : User plane low level support

As software Maintenance & development engineer inside BB&Soc DU for BaseBand Plateform SW, for MCU HWAPI, you will be responsible for analysing the Pronto (ticket) , pointing to the root Cause, possibly providing the fault correction and the fault analysis.

Otherwise working with the Dev teams to indentify the Root Cause and/or define the correction fix.

Also responsible for internal Support activities (from testing teams), like pre-checks & questions towards BBP.

 Requested technical skills:

  • M.S. in Telecommunications/Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/ or related field and 6+ years of experience in design, and/or development. 
  • Coding languages: C/C++/ Python/ scripting languages
  • Linux awareness
  • Awareness of embedded system principles
  • Git/gerrit knowledge is an advantage
  • Very good communication skills in English
  • Very good interpersonal and teamwork skills and capability to work in international multi-site environment

We operate in an agile way of working with a team of around 40 designers, in a multi-site organization spread over several countries ( Germany, Poland and China)
