Description du poste / stage

A vacancy for a Flight Tests - Radio Telecommunication technical referent (m/f) has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse. You will
join the Station Radio Team.

Radio station activities consist of radio voice and datalink tests exchanges between ground part (radio Station) and aircraft.

At first you will have to familiarize with the operations of the radio station. You will be in charge of voice tests and datalink tests with our production aircraft and prototypes. The goal is for you to become skilled in this business. Of course this learning will be done within a team setting up of radio operators.

At the end, your job will be split between tests as a radio operator and in charge to technically support the work package leader of the activity. As such, you will be technical referent, and master physical phenomenon of the radio telecommunication, the traditional Voice/Datalink aeronautical transmission and the new IP telecommunication technology.



Tâches et missions principales, responsabilités

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the radio communication test package activities for all program phases (flight, production, delivery) for both civil and military aircraft.
  • Acting as Station radio officer for Voice/Datalink/IP COM tests for development and Production aircraft.
  • Setting up the configuration and dispatch rules for all ACARS traffic with Aircom servers.
  • Providing multisite radio voice and data support (Europe, USA, China). Voice covers all bands (VHF, HF, UHF and SATCOM) and data all means (ACARS, IP mainly through GSM and WiFi).
  • Supporting the Analysis (level 1) the exchanges between the aircraft and ground systems to explain the test in fault (the overall link with protocols and radio phenomenon) with the first objective to save the current flight.
  • Verifying the aircraft compatibility according to all radio communications and data protocols (ie Arinc 618, 620, 622, Eurocae 100, BATAP/XATAP).
  • Developing/deploying synergies with following stakeholders
  • Ops engineering and MCC groups within the service
  • FTSE (Flight Test Specialist Engineer) and FTE (Flight Test Engineer) specialist of the radio communication (ACARS, IP)
  • MAP and design office, with particular attention of the MAP connectivity.
  • Developing, with the work package leader, the future Station radio and the integration of it in the Operational Control Center of the flight Test department.

This role will involve some travel for business twice a year and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Compétences requises

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to Master level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline,
  • Overall aircraft knowledge,
  • Radio telecommunication skills (Basic knowledge learned at school during the course),
  • Team work abilities,
  • Adaptability and communication skills,
  • An advanced level of English and French are mandatory.
