Description du poste / stage

A vacancy for a “Engineer in Frequency Management (m/f)” has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in France (Toulouse, another location may be discussed).
The position is hosted in Engineering to support the growth of Airbus Defence & Space’s Communication, Intelligence & Security (CIS) Program Line. Our objective is to de-risk and accompany their programs, system design, business development, innovation, strategy, marketing and new products for all question related to frequency management. And this has become strategic for Airbus DS since competing industries are paying billions of euros to secure the frequencies the need.
This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.



Tâches et missions principales, responsabilités

You will be involved in the following activities.
Defining and agreeing with the main stakeholders of a Program Line the relevant strategies and action plans about Frequency Management:

  • Forming a good understanding of the Business needs and targets in terms of technology, market and frequency challenges
  • Recommending the best options, de-risk and accompany their implementation with programs, system design, business development, innovation, strategy, sales, bid and tenders, marketing and new products.
  • Leading, participating, coordinating associated activities, including with the support of internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Anticipating and developing opportunities to support the positioning and growth of the Program Line businesses and products

Developing and implementing technical/regulatory lobbying campaigns to promote the interest of the Program Line, in particular throughout the international negotiations of the International Telecommunications Union (“ITU-R”) of the United Nations:

  • Developing and defending sharing, regulatory and technical studies and contributions to ITU-R, CEPT conferences and Frequency Management fora to promote the Business interest, either directly or with technical consultants/subcontractors
  • Developing and implementing associated strategies in line with the Program Line and Company's interests and in coordination with the other stakeholders of Airbus Defence and Space and Airbus Group in the Frequency Management Coordination Committee

This role will involve frequent travel for business (in Europe and abroad, eg 30 to 90 days a year with 1 to 10 days duration,) and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.



Compétences requises

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Master degree with 5 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs or Frequency Management and participation in at least one cycle of WRC negotiation
  • Understanding of radio propagation & link budgets and ability to apply to simulation, modelling and interferences evaluation also appreciated
  • Customer-oriented and determined to succeed with reliability, autonomy and initiative
  • Team player at ease with multi-national culture and international negotiations
  • Advanced level in English
