A vacancy for a BIG DATA – Machine Learning Specialist (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse. You will join TESCT department.
Within the space systems engineering organization, the Checkout Systems division is in charge, in a transnational context, of delivering ground software and hardware solutions to enable and optimize satellite engineering, verification and operation processes.
You will interact with different engineering fields to understand their underlying process, propose way of improvements through mathematical solutions, using the data they produce and deliver data analytics solutions through developing software.
This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
As a specialist in descriptive statistics (clustering, dimension reduction, distribution fitting) and inferential/predictive statistics methods (Machine Learning such as Neural Networks, SVM, Random-Forest), you know how to quickly describe a large dataset (1E6 individuals as a minimum) lying in high dimensions (1E2 variables as a minimum), to identify underlying behavior and model trends. You are trained to operational research methods (graph theory, numerical optimization, surrogate modeling) to address challenges beyond data analysis, with pragmatic solutions as well (splines modeling, dichotomy optimization).
Being autonomous in complex IT environment (remote Hadoop/Spark cluster, multiple language interfacing), you have a favorite toolset to quickly prototype web based data visualization applications around data and algorithms (R/Shiny, Python/Bokeh). You use those applications to iterate with your end users/engineering experts, focusing both on look’n feel (basics in HTML and CSS) and content around your algorithms. You know how to start an application from scratch, and you can integrate a collaborative development environment (AGILE process, GIT versioning, testing & documentation framework), exchanging and working with IT engineers to industrialize your prototyped work.
Being curious and open minded, you prefer to work on 2 to 3 topics simultaneously. Your abstraction skills allow you to propose a same solution for different engineering problematics when relevant. It is expected you outperform state of the art in engineering, customizing latest academic results in mathematics to a dedicated engineering topic.
This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
